Preghiere Quotidiane dell'Adozione Spirituale
The Spiritual Adoption novena lasts for nine months. We began the novena on 19th June 2023 and will end on the St. Joseph Feast Day on 19th March 2024. However, if you missed it, you can start praying the novena on a different date. On the first day of Novena began with the prayer pledge (see here).
On each day during the nine months pray:
1. One decade of the Rosary said each day for nine months (you can choose a different mystery each day, or say the same one every day for the nine months) and;
2. Daily Prayer
For the purpose of this nine months Spiritual Adoption of Fathers, we created a short prayer inspired by Jesus's promise to St Faustina that you can read below:
Abba Father, I ask that You bless and anoint this father whom I have spiritually adopted with the Blood and Water pouring forth from the Heart of Your Son Jesus. Give him a heart of fire for God, a heart of flesh for neighbor, and a heart of bronze for himself. May he be a wellspring of the joy of living like St. Joseph, a humble servant of the Lord. Amen.
Our Blessed Lord told Saint Faustina: “Call upon My mercy on behalf of sinners; I desire their salvation. When you say this prayer, with a contrite heart and with faith on behalf of sinners, I will give them the grace of conversion. This is the prayer: “O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You” (Diary of St. Faustina, 186-187).
Jesus also told St. Faustina: “The loss of each soul plunges Me into mortal sadness. You always console Me when you pray for sinners. The prayer most pleasing to Me is prayer for the conversion of sinners. Know, My daughter, that this prayer is always heard and answered” (Diary, 1397).
3. What could be our own undertaking? (optional)
In addition to praying the rosary decade and the daily prayer, you may wish to undertake one of the following, or something of your own choosing:
-
Frequent Mass, confession/reconciliation.
-
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.
-
Carry out works of mercy.
-
Act of kindness toward the father
-
Fasting for the father you adopt, abstaining from sweets, abstaining from social media, etc.
"Offer your temptations for conversion of sinners. When the devil sees you doing this, he is beside himself with rage and makes off, because then the temptation is turned against himself."
St. Jean Vianney
